Dear lovely readers,
Welcome to lifestylemartina.com, your go-to destination for delicious recipes, wellness insights, and the vibrant stories of my journey.
About me:
I’m Martina Cavelier, a 26-year-old explorer at heart, who believes in savouring life’s flavours to the fullest.
- My professional culinary journey began with a year-long professional chef course, leading me to wear the chef’s coat in various Netherlands’ restaurants. But it doesn’t stop there.
- I’m very passionate about cooking and baking. When I was 15 years old, I decided to sell baked goods to save up for university. I baked mostly brownies and cupcakes and I would sell them through an Instagram page @bakedbymartina.
- I create recipes for a Colombian newspaper, for examples, see “Press”.
- I’m also a certified Fitness Nutritionist with credentials from the ISSA. This unique combination allows me to view food not just as delicious bites but as a healthy, nourishing experience.
- I graduated from a Bachelor of International Business, soon to graduate from a masters in Strategic Management.
- I moved to The Hague, The Netherlands to study, but I was born and raised in a beautiful country called Colombia.
- I am half Colombian, half Dutch (Dad is Colombian, Mom is Dutch). This might seem like a strange combination, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. ❤
- I love photography and film and I used to be a ballet dancer. I love simple things like going to the beach and the park, cooking/baking and Zumba classes. I absolutely love spending time with my family & loved ones and traveling.
Here is a little story about my life ❤:
After living in Colombia for eighteen years, I decided to move to The Hague, The Netherlands to pursue my studies in International Business. I chose The Hague as I was longing for an international environment where I would be able to meet people from different backgrounds while learning more about my family heritage.
Leaving my house in Colombia and moving all across the world to live on my own in The Netherlands was VERY HARD. I would say that my hardest experience was moving to a foreign country, at only 18 years old. It had always been my dream to study in a foreign country but coming from a very small city in Colombia and very attached to my family, the idea of moving to another place terrified me!
However, the greatest adventures in life will come when you step out of your comfort zone. So, with a brave heart but a broken heart, I left home in Colombia and built a new life in The Hague.
✨8 YEARS LATER, and I am so happy I made the decision to move. I have met wonderful people, some who have stayed in my life, others who have taught me incredible life lessons. I have grown as a person and have learned to be independent, open-minded and adventurous. ❤️
“You don’t know how capable you are unless you try. Leave your comfort zone, open your mind to new possibilities and go for your dreams👊🏼❤️
